It can take up to 4-9 hours to transcribe one hour of audio or video. The actual number depends on a variety of factors including how many speakers there are and the audio quality. A focus group discussion on university education would not be expected to take as long to document as, say, a focus group discussion about clinical trials for a new pharmaceutical drug. Medical terms, unfamiliar words, personalities all take longer to transcribe.
How do you transcribe a focus group?

It is also important to time stamp parts of the transcription where it is unclear or particularly hard to decipher (for example, if people are talking over one another).
