Looking back on 2017
Where has 2017 gone?! It was McGowan Transcriptions’ 24th year, and what a memorable year it has been. To sum up: there have been challenges, there have been opportunities; we’ve welcomed new additions to the team as we’ve waved goodbye to others; we’ve even had some familiar faces coming back to us, too (hi Carol!); we’ve had no shortage of complex projects and demanding deadlines to meet, and I’m pleased to say that we have consistently delighted our old and new clients alike with our super-fast turnaround and quality delivery.
With a team of top transcribers, and not forgetting the fabulous clients who make all this possible and worthwhile, I have to say I’m very much looking forward to seeing us go from strength to strength during the coming year. In the meantime, join me in looking back at a few key highlights from 2017…
Global Lounge launch
We launched Global Lounge, our new improved, bespoke, fast and powerful file upload facility back in October. Global Lounge is everything we wanted it to be; it makes managing audio files and transcripts effortless, enabling us to just get on with what we do best: transcribing!
Not long before Global Lounge went live, we launched our sleek new McGowan Transcriptions website. Did you spot the new logo, as well? We’re rather proud of our new look.
Doing our bit
In 2017, we stepped up our commitment to doing our bit by donating a percentage of our profits to charity each season. We’ve selected Crisis as our Christmas charity, which supports homeless people to leave the streets behind for good. Meanwhile, earlier in the year, we opted to support Mind, as it’s an organisation that is dear to many of our transcribers’ hearts; some have family members for whom mental health support has been invaluable, while others have previously worked closely with Mind in a professional capacity and came to admire the fantastic work they do in championing mental health.
McGowan Transcriptions Christmas Party
It’s been noted that there’s never a dull moment in the McGowan Transcriptions team, and our Christmas party held in Windsor earlier this month was no exception. We relished an evening of wining, dining and dancing at the beautiful Beaumont Estate, and I think it’s fair to say that a good time was had by all. (See our photo below for evidence!)
And thus concludes our last blog post of 2017. Whether you’re a client, a transcriber, a professional acquaintance or just a casual reader, may we wish you a very happy Christmas and all the best for the New Year. See you in 2018…
