Joe McGowan spent five years in market research before founding McGowan Transcriptions in 1993. Coming from a market research background she developed transcription expertise in many different sectors including Consumer, Business 2 Business, Social Research and Telecommunications. Several members of our team have come directly from the market research industry and between them have 38 years of experience working in support, research and field before becoming full-time transcribers.

Medical Transcription Service
Our dedicated transcription team includes three senior transcribers who have come directly from the medical sector before joining McGowan Transcriptions. Our combined transcription experience in the medical, healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors exceeds 44 years.

Legal Transcription Service
Many members of our transcription team come from a legal background, and have between them over 40 years' experience in legal services. Many have held secretarial and administrative positions within the legal profession but we also have a legal executive and a commercial property solicitor who jointly head our legal transcription team.

Publishing Transcription Service
McGowan Transcriptions have produced three published books from two different authors, and are currently working on a 'work in progress' for a third. We offer various services to authors and journalists which include copy typing and proofreading.

University Transcription Service
We transcribe for many universities across England and Scotland. We have strong links within research departments and we have also expanded our services to cater for individual student requirements across a broad range of subjects. We can work with audio, video, scanned digital images, hard copy and faxed formats for individual students. Copy typing and proofreading are also offered at a discounted rate for students.

Charity Transcription Service
We have long-standing relationships with many large charitable organisations and offer discounts for charities and organisations who are working on projects with charities. Budgets for charity projects are discounted and agreed up front, and we never exceed budgets. We hope to create many more opportunities to work within this sector over the coming year.
